I graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland with a BA in Humanities. I received a Masters degree in Library and Information Science from University of Maryland in College Park. I try to keep up with the industry with online seminars, lynda.com training videos, newsletters and online magazines.
After graduate school, I had a series of temp jobs at DC area libraries. One of those jobs included maintenance of the organization's website. After a few days, I was hooked. I fell in love with HTML, and began a career in the web design field.
I play cello in my acoustic band, Chick Habit, fulfilling a life-long dream of being a rock star. I love to travel — foreign and domestic — and have a goal of visiting every continent. I'm a terrible athlete, but I do love to run, completeing several races including the Marine Corp Marathon. My greatest joy is playing with my dog, which I rescued in 2013 after he found me running on the country roads in Westmoreland County, Virginia. I also enjoy reading, photography, old movies, and baking.
Volunteerism and philanthropy have always been important to me, a trait I inherited from my mom. I support causes for animal rights, humanitarian issues, diseases, the environment and the arts.
